PV Ribbon Samples: Fees and Validation Checklist

Before requesting PV ribbon samples, agree on the specification, quantity, documentation, fees and shipping terms. Use this checklist to record the test conditions, acceptance criteria and results needed for your qualification process.

Write the sample specification

Provide a drawing with base or layer construction, dimensions, tolerances, coating and mechanical condition. Include cell metallization and intended joining equipment.
State sample length or quantity, packaging and traceability needs. Distinguish a handling sample from one intended for electrical, peel or module qualification.

Agree practical arrangements

Ask about current availability, setup needs, sample charges, shipping responsibility and the proposed schedule. Record the agreed sample fee and freight responsibility before the sample order.
Confirm which inspection documents, cross-sections or declarations can accompany the sample. Required documents should be explicit in the sample agreement.

Define the trial

Record joining settings, reference material and acceptance methods before testing. For peel results, define direction, speed, specimen condition and failure classification.
Check dimensions, coating, resistance and forming or handling as relevant. Module tests apply to the actual bill of materials; a material sample alone does not qualify the module.

Close the evaluation

Keep sample identification, settings, results and deviations together. Distinguish passing the agreed sample checks from approval of a production route or substitute.
Confirm the production specification, quantities, inspection plan and change controls before placing an order. Use the accepted process window for production.
