Enameled Bimetal Wire: Insulation and Winding FAQ

What is Enameled Bimetal Wire?

CCA or other bimetal base conductor with enamel insulation system after process confirmation.

Describe the conductor, finished size, insulation system and winding process so the required electrical and mechanical checks can be defined together.

Primary Applications

  • speaker voice coils
  • earphone coils
  • inverter inductors
  • compact winding systems

Critical RFQ Specifications

  • diameter
  • base conductor
  • insulation class
  • thermal target
  • coil application
  • qualification scope

Selection

Does the base metal establish the enamel thermal class?

No. The insulation system has its own thermal and electrical requirements. State the enamel system, test method and required class separately from conductor temperature or core properties.

Specifications

Which conductor and insulation dimensions are needed?

Identify the bimetal core and layer construction. For round wire, provide bare diameter and finished outside diameter; for flat wire, provide bare width, thickness, corners and finished dimensions. Specify insulation build, thermal class and the applicable winding-wire requirements.

Testing

Which winding and termination trials are useful?

Use the intended coil geometry, bend directions and winding tension. Check film integrity, pinholes or dielectric performance after bending, then evaluate stripping, soldering or crimping and joint resistance.
